7 Ways to Revamp Your Laundry Room in a Big Way

We often think about renovating kitchens and bathrooms — but why not laundry rooms? You and your clothes should have a clean, organized space. Here, Kristin Jackson from Hunted Interior gives you ways to spruce up your space.

When Electrolux asked me to help design a dream laundry room, I was beyond thrilled. This was a dream job, as our “laundry room” is a small closet filled with a small stacker unit. So having the opportunity to pair the technology of Electrolux’s latest washer and dryer with a bright and functional space was really exciting. Here are a few things I learned along the way:

Choose a statement color for your cabinets

I was inspired by the Electrolux logo and its vibrant use of blue and white. I reinterpreted that into the space by using the bold hue on the cabinets. Painting outdated cabinets a bright color and adding modern hardware instantly transforms the space, taking it to a whole new level.

Use wallpaper to add texture to walls

With such bold cabinets, I wanted to go for a neutral wall covering. The detailing of this ivory and white paper adds texture and makes the space more interesting without feeling overwhelming.

Upgrade your washer and dryer

Bring your design together with new appliances that overdeliver on looks and technology—like Electrolux’s high-performance washer and dryer, which come in a sleek titanium color and use bright LED lights. Even better, the washer has SmartBoostTM, which maximizes the cleaning power of detergent for the most effective stain removal1, and the dryer has an Instant Refresh Cycle that removes wrinkles and refreshes items with steam in just 10 minutes. This means you, and your clothes, will always look spectacular.

Add some shine with your counters

Counters in your laundry room need to be functional, but that doesn’t mean they can’t also look fantastic. I picked white quartz countertops to keep the space feeling modern and fresh. The solid, glossy white surface adds plenty of space for folding laundry.

Install open shelves

I added two floating shelves for extra storage. The white lacquered material adds a modern touch, and the chrome brackets give it a little bit of sparkle.

Add stylish touches

Adding artwork and this blue velvet bench to the room makes the space a bit more inviting. The bench is the perfect perch for any little helpers that like to tag along when you are doing the laundry.

Pick a natural floor

The wood-like tile is one of my absolute favorite elements in this space. It has the warmth of wood, but the durability of tile. And laying it in this chevron pattern helps draw the eye into the space even more.
